Malaysian Designers to Participate in Phl Trade, Design Events

14 October 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said today that a sizeable Malaysian delegation will be participating at DeXign Global Philippines and the Manila FAME on 17 to 20 October 2013 at the SMX Convention Center.

DeXign Global Philippines is a side event of the long-running Manila FAME, considered as the Philippines' major design and craftsmanship fair.

"As part of the Embassy's economic diplomacy program, we have been actively promoting Philippine events to the Malaysian market. We are happy that they have responded positively. This is a testament of the strong bonds between our two countries," Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya said.

There are 14 Malaysian companies who registered at the DeXign Global Philippines, along with 17 companies and 22 individuals who registered as buyers or guests at the Manila FAME.

Majority of those who registered for the DeXign Global event are famous Malaysian fashion designers from the Bumiputra Design Association and the Malaysian Official Design Association.

Also joining them are Trade Counsellor Glenn Peñaranda and Trade Assistant Louie Brigida Quero-Lee.

Two Malaysian designers, Mr. Bill Keith of House of Bill Keith and Mr. Hazree Wahid of Hazree Wahid Sdh Bhd are in the DeXign Global Philippines's Special Setting along other famous international designers in the event.

Apart from availing two pavilions at the DeXign Global showcase, the Malaysian designers will also have a fashion show set at 6 p.m. on October 19 October 2013, in cooperation with the Center for International Trade Exposition Missions (CITEM).

DeXign Global is expected to bring together under one roof, international exhibitors of home and fashion, highlighting the ASEAN countries and their individual brand of design and artisanship.

It combines business and design; and serves as a venue for creative exchange and trade promotion. It creates a new marketplace of home and fashion products; expands the range of product offerings; and provides a fresh sourcing venue for trade buyers from the Philippines and from all over the world who regularly come to Manila FAME to look for quality, innovative, design-driven products.
