Phl Participates in Malaysian Food and Hotel Showcase

30 September 2015—The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said today that Philippine food manufacturers and exporters participated at the 13th Malaysian International Festival of Food, Drinks, Hotel & Foodservice Equipment, Supplies, Services and Related Technology or Food and Hotel Malaysia (FHM 2015), which opened on September 29 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.

Philippine Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur J. Eduardo Malaya visited the Philippine Pavilion, which was made up by nine companies and accompanied by the Department of Agriculture (DA).  They showcased foodstuff, snacks, condiments, sauces and juices.

These include Alter Trade Fair Organization, Natural Quantum Diversified Products Inc., ChocoVron Global Corporation, VFC Condiments, Germano's Chilli, Orich International Traders Inc., Lao Integrated Farms, Inc., Navarro Foods International Inc., and Mama Sita's (Marigold Manufacturing Corp).

Special Agricultural Representative Ana Abejuela coordinated the participation of the group to the showcase.

"The participation of Philippine food companies to the FHM 2015 is a testament to the vibrant two-way flow of trade and investment between Malaysia and the Philippines.  We are more than happy to introduce Philippine products to the Malaysian market.  A lot of Philippine products are ready not only for the Malaysian market but also for the Muslim markets generally as these products are already halal certified," he said.

Another program for the Philippine delegation for the FHM 2015 is a by-invitation importers' lunch on October 1 at the Seri Pacific Hotel, featuring a fusion of Malaysian-Filipino cuisine.  The Malaysian dishes will be prepared and cooked using Mama Sita's mixes and sauces.

FHM is considered as Malaysia's official trade exhibition for food, drinks, hotel, restaurants, food services, bakery equipment, supplies and retail industries.  With over 50 countries represented, the event features business-to-business engagements, a culinary exhibition and an opportunity for buyers and other visitors to see and even taste the latest products and services offered by the food, beverage and hospitality industry worldwide.

The FHM 2015 will run until October 2.  END
