Philhealth Extends Services to Filipinos in Sabah

29 March 2017—Upon arrangement by the Philippine Embassy, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) conducted its first ever extension of services to Filipinos in Sabah from March 23 to 26.

Joining PhilHealth in an integration program in Kota Kinabalu were representatives from the Social Security System (SSS) and Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-ibig).

A three-member delegation from PhilHealth led by its Regional Vice President for Region IX Romeo Alberto flew in from Manila to join the Embassy's SSS Representative Josefina Maduro and Pag-Ibig Members Services Assistant Maria Rosario Macadangdang in providing services to Filipinos in Sabah.

This effort was made possible by Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya, who requested PhilHealth to bring their services to Filipinos in Sabah.

The three agencies initially joined the last day of the Embassy's consular mission in Kota Kinabalu on March 24. Services included issuance and updating of PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig and SSS member data records and issuance of PhilHealth IDs.

The agencies also gave a seminar of its products and services, while continuing with their services at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall on March 25.

Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Raly Tejada welcomed the 200-strong Filipino community members who attended the event, where he encouraged the members of the Filipino community to take advantage of the presence of the three agencies to be enrolled in their programs and avail of their services.

Stairway to Hope Project Manager Marilou Chin provided assistance in making the seminar possible.

PhilHealth provided services to a total of 164 Filipinos, while SSS had a total of 73 transactions, which included new member applications, loan re-structuring, member data change and renewal of membership. Pag-Ibig, meanwhile, signed up 50 new members from the Filipino community. END
